Small Farms Classes
Tracy DeCubellis, a small farm owner, credits the IFAS Small Farms Classes with helping her get her soap-making business started the right way. DeCubellis attended classes taught by Linda Landrum, a Regional Specialized Agent in Marketing and Community Resource Development for IFAS Extension. She learned how to create a business plan and how to showcase her new goat-milk soap to shoppers. Now her business is going strong through word of mouth, and she has numerous varieties of soaps for sale.
The Small Farms Classes are taught by a variety of IFAS Extension agents and are designed to educate small farmers on how they can market their products and services at local farmers' markets. These classes show Florida farmers how proper marketing and displays can make their produce more attractive to consumers and help them jump-start a small business. Small Farms Classes are offered throughout the year and available to anyone at any time on the IFAS Small Farms Web site.
